Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify the comprehension skills in chemistry among middle school students, the descriptive research approach was adopted, and the research sample consisted of (250) students from the first intermediate grade, i.e. 32% of the research community from the academic year 2020/2021 M was chosen from the Baghdad Governorate Center from the Karkh Education Directorates (first, second and third). The search tool consisted of the numbers of the deep understanding test (35) one paragraph, which is generative thinking in skills (kindness, flexibility, predicting data, and the difference of hypotheses), initiating explanations and asking questions Resolution, Consent, Public, Social Sciences (SPSS + 22) for processing research findings, The results showed that middle school students have a weakness in the deep understanding skills as a whole and in every skill of his skill, except for the skills of fluency and decision-making, which were achieved.
