Abstract
This research examines the commercial landscape of Mecca and its impact on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and society, focusing on the role of the Quraish tribe, particularly the sons of Abdul Muttalib, in facilitating trade. Hashim, the Prophet's grandfather, played a pivotal role by establishing trade caravans to the Levant and securing agreements with rulers such as Caesar and the kings of Yemen. This commercial success was acknowledged by Allah in the Quran. Abdullah, the Prophet's father, also participated in trade ventures and tragically passed away during a trading journey to Syria. These familial ties and commercial activities influenced the Prophet's early life, leading him to engage in trade himself. His initial ventures were with his uncle Abu Talib, and later he partnered with his wife Khadijah, a wealthy merchant known for her admiration of the Prophet's integrity and trustworthiness. Their partnership flourished despite challenges such as the blockade and boycott imposed by the Quraish tribe. Ultimately, the Prophet's involvement in trade not only contributed to his livelihood but also demonstrated his exemplary character, laying the foundation for his prophetic mission.
