Abstract
Metaphor evokes relationships between things, with its effectiveness tied to the novelty of these connections. Similar to imagery, metaphor is deeply rooted in sensory perception, giving identity and effectiveness to the image it represents. In the Holy Qur’an, metaphor displays unique aesthetic qualities as part of its rhetorical miracle. It stands out with unmatched beauty in expression and depiction, serving as a preferred artistic tool to convey mental, emotional, and sensory meanings.
Qur’anic metaphors transcend aesthetic boundaries, combining artistic elegance with religious purposes. Their effectiveness stems from the Qur’anic context, revealing the depth and purpose of imagery when placed in its natural environment. Furthermore, metaphor confirms and emphasizes meaning, surpassing simile in eloquence by fully merging the compared elements.
