Abstract

The research problem can be summarized in the following questions: What are the factors that influence the effectiveness of social innovation in promoting the knowledge economy? How can universities, civil society organizations, and the government collaborate effectively to support social innovation? What are the challenges facing societies in implementing social innovation practices in light of economic and social changes? The importance of the research lies in the vital role social innovation plays in the knowledge economy, as it contributes to building an environment that encourages cooperation between individuals and social institutions, leading to improved responses to solve societal problems. The current research contributes to highlighting the role of education and technology in improving the sustainability and effectiveness of social innovation. Social innovation is a step towards enabling societies to adapt to global transformations, which enhances their ability to grow and prosper in a knowledge-based economic environment. The research aims to understand the concept of social innovation as a pivotal force, especially in the context of the knowledge economy. It also aims to explore how to enhance educational systems using modern technologies within the framework of the knowledge economy. It also presents a set of recommendations and proposals on policies that promote social innovation and support the research and development process across various sectors. The study concluded with a set of conclusions, including: Social innovation has become a cornerstone for modern societies striving for progress and sustainable development, especially in the midst of major global transformations toward a knowledge-based economic model. The researchers recommended the need to benefit from pioneering experiences of higher education institutions around the world in the field of knowledge economy applications, to address challenges and keep pace with developments, or to enhance the activation of the role of the knowledge economy in developing all Iraqi universities, in addition to conducting further studies on social innovation in Iraqi universities.
