Abstract
One of the main features that distinguish Iraqi society is the tribal character and tribal roots, as clans are considered a social institution that has a great influence on the social, political, economic, religious and cultural entity. The clan has a fundamental role in maintaining security and order and protecting lives and public and private property. This role appears especially in difficult times, including circumstances and crises that pose a threat to the country, as the clan is a safety valve and a line of defense as a result of loyalty, belonging and national unity, which is considered part of the values, customs, traditions, collective conscience and historical heritage that gives it strength and effectiveness in supporting and assisting the government and the state in confronting internal and external dangers, in addition to resolving disputes and conflicts, eliminating sedition and fighting corruption, in order to achieve the process of social control and providing security, safety, stability and peace in society. Therefore, the clan plays an important role in leading society.
